The proposal came down on Friday, May 13, 2005, to close the 102nd Fighter Wing, Otis Air National Guard
Base (ANGB).
This website was created to:
1. Help Save Otis Air National Guard Base, Cape Cod.
2. Give facts about Otis ANGB.
3. Give opinions about Otis ANGB.
4. Provide the addresses of the Governor, Lt Governor, Senators, and the Congressman.
Facts:
1. Otis guards the Northeast against threats.
2.
Otis has a critical role in homeland security.
3.
Otis is, and has always been, ready to defend our Country.
4. On 11 September 2001, fighter jets from Otis were scrambled to
intercept the hijacked airliners that eventually crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center.
5. Otis Air National Guard Base supports:
a. The Coast Guard located on the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR)
b. The Army National Guard located on the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR)
c. Pave Paws – Active Duty Air Force station located on the Massachusetts Military Reservation
(MMR)
d. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)

h. Environmental Readiness Center (ERC)
i.

j.
Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE)
k. Community Involvement
6. Otis employs hundreds of military and civilian
employees.
Opinions:
If Otis stays open, it will:
1. Continue to protect the Northeast against threats.
2. Continue
to support all the agencies listed above.
3. Keep hundreds
of employees employed on Cape Cod.
4. Keep hundreds
of children in the school systems on Cape Cod.
5. Keep the Real Estate market growing on Cape Cod.
6. Continue to support all businesses on Cape Cod, year round!
If Otis closes:
1. Hundreds of people would lose their jobs.
2. Unemployment in Massachusetts would increase.
3. Hundreds of families may possibly
move out of Cape Cod.
4. Local schools may possibly lose hundreds
of children which may in-turn affect the number of teachers employed on Cape Cod.
5. Businesses on Cape Cod would lose well over $2 million dollars
in one off-season, alone.
6. A mass amount of houses for sale may flood the real estate market
at once, which may in-turn lower the prices of houses on Cape Cod.
7. Otis
runway could possibly turn into a civilian airport.
8. All the tenants that Otis supports may not be
able to support themselves and the Military units may find themselves on the closure list in the future.
